A Dominion Road favourite for Cantonese feasts

Our Chinese name, 金碧园, means "golden jade garden," and our full sign reads 海鲜烧腊: seafood and roast meats. That's what we've built our kitchen around: lacquered ducks in the window, live-fire wok seafood, and claypot hot pots that arrive at the table still bubbling.

Sit down and we'll pour jasmine tea and bring a bowl of our house Cantonese soup while you order, with fresh fruit to finish. Portions are big and made for the middle of the table. Or take it home: everything is available for pickup and delivery.

烧味Lacquered, crackled & carved to order

Siu mei is the heart of a Cantonese kitchen. Ducks are roasted until the skin turns glassy and dark, pork belly is blistered into crackling, and char siu is basted in honey until the edges catch. Order it by the plate, as a two or three-roast combination, or piled over rice.

    The flavour only fire can give

    Wok hei is the smoky, caramelised edge a dish picks up when it meets a wok heated past the point any home stove can reach. Our burners roar like jet engines, and our chefs toss every plate of beef chow fun, salt and pepper squid and sizzling Mongolian beef through the flame.

    Where is Golden Garden?

    583 Dominion Road, Mount Eden, Auckland 1041. Dominion Road gets busy, so allow a few minutes to find street parking on the side streets nearby.

    What are your opening hours?

    We're open seven days for lunch from 10:30am to 2pm and for dinner from 4pm to 10pm.

    Can we dine in?

    Yes. Sit down and we'll bring jasmine tea and our complimentary house soup while you order, with fresh fruit to finish your meal.

    Do you do takeaway and delivery?

    Yes. Everything on the menu is available for pickup, and we deliver across many Auckland suburbs (delivery fees apply). Order ahead and it'll be ready when you arrive.

    Do I need to pre-order the Peking duck or Pipa duck?

    The Pipa roast duck is pre-order only, and we recommend booking the two-course Peking duck ahead too, especially for weekend evenings. Just give us a call earlier in the day.

    Can you cater for big family dinners?

    Our portions are generous and built for sharing. For bigger groups try the Golden Garden Combination Hot Pot or a three-roast platter, and call a day or two ahead so we can help you plan a banquet.
